Tragic Murder of Wrestler Roy Calavera in Puebla

The professional wrestler Rogelio "N", known as Roy Calavera, was shot dead on the night of Saturday, November 9, in the Popular Coatepec neighborhood, Puebla. His trainers were recognized wrestlers such as Astro Man, Mister Plata, Perverso, and Tigre Rojo Jr. This murder is the fourth of a wrestler in Puebla during 2024, following the crimes of Rey Komodo, Martín, and Danger.

The attack occurred around six in the evening, in front of the convenience store, where the wrestler had a mobile michelada stand. According to preliminary investigations, Roy Calavera received five shots while trying to take refuge in the establishment, dying at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics who quickly arrived. A second man was injured in the attack and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Roy Calavera, 40 years old, had dedicated 11 years of his life to independent wrestling, standing out in Arena Coliseo San Ramón. Throughout his career, he achieved significant victories, including obtaining Ruby's hair. Several local wrestlers and wrestling leagues in the region have expressed their sorrow over the tragic event.

According to close sources, Roy Calavera was also working as a truck driver, but after suffering an assault in Guerrero where his unit was stolen, he chose to start a michelada business at the corner of 7 Sur and Alfredo Toxqui streets, in the same Popular Coatepec neighborhood. Local media have indicated that his murder might be linked to his refusal to pay "protection money" to extortionist groups.

The assailants managed to flee in a vehicle after committing the crime, and details about their identity are currently unknown. The Attorney General's Office of the State of Puebla has opened an investigation into the case and his body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for an autopsy.
