Federal Deputy Ricardo Monreal Ávila and the Governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier, joined forces in defense of the rights of Mexican migrants in light of the possibility of being deported by the United States government. During a meeting attended by federal deputies from Morena, both called for national unity in response to recent actions announced by President Donald Trump regarding immigration issues, military reinforcement at the border, and the possible designation of drug cartels as terrorist organizations.

'We will defend our nation, migrants, and our sovereignty and independence,' Monreal expressed. Meanwhile, Armenta reiterated Puebla's support for President Claudia Sheinbaum in the face of the unilateral stance of the United States regarding migrant deportations. 'Our absolute support to the president. We are ready to receive migrants in the event of a unilateral decision by the United States that could violate the human rights of our brothers,' the governor stated.

Armenta added that both Puebla and Mexico are prepared to receive migrants and emphasized the importance of the United States considering the loss of skilled labor and the business impact it would suffer without the presence of Mexican migrants. The coordinator of the Morena parliamentary group, Ricardo Monreal, assured that Mexico is ready to address the return of nationals and that the majority bloc in Congress is willing to legislate on four key issues in light of Trump’s return to the presidency of the United States.

'We tell our president Claudia Sheinbaum that we will stand united, she is not alone,' Monreal affirmed. The key issues proposed for legislation include mass deportations, the imposition of tariffs on Mexican products, the possible designation of drug cartels as terrorist organizations, and the eventual taxation of remittances sent by migrants.
