Plebiscite Day in Puebla Ignites Political Activity

The plebiscite in Puebla city took place smoothly under the supervision of local authorities. 1,500 police were deployed to ensure safety across 44 voting centers.


The voting day will take place from 08:00 to 18:00 hours. The Plebiscitary Commission of Auxiliary Boards 2025-2028, responsible for supervising this process, is currently in session to receive and address any reports that may arise throughout the day. The government of Pepe Chedraui Budib is working in coordination with the state government, the National Guard, the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), and the Ministry of the Navy to guarantee order and security during this plebiscitary day.

1,500 police officers are in charge of order and security. A total of 1,500 personnel from the three levels of government are deployed to monitor the plebiscites in the 17 auxiliary boards of the capital of Puebla. The Government of the city of Puebla, through the General Secretariat of Government, reports that the plebiscitary day on this Sunday, January 26, began without incidents in the 17 auxiliary boards of the municipality. A total of 44 voting centers were installed, which have 205 polling tables. This was announced by the head of the Municipal Government Secretariat, Franco Rodríguez Álvarez.

This security deployment was agreed upon during the second Municipal Security Meeting, held on January 21. The surveillance operations will be conducted by the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), the National Guard (GN), as well as the Secretariats of the Navy and National Defense. In conjunction, the authorities will conduct patrols during the elections to renew the auxiliary presidencies, with the aim of guaranteeing peace and social security throughout the municipality.
