The municipal government of Puebla has acquired 200 new patrol cars as part of its strategy to reduce crime in the city. Of these units, 100 are 2025 Explorer Police Interceptor models equipped with front and rear cameras, as well as light and sound codes. Additionally, up to 30% of the municipal budget has been allocated to strengthen the police department.
Highlighting an effort to modernize and make the municipal police vehicle fleet more efficient, half of the acquired patrol cars are electric. The launch of these new patrols was led by the mayor, Pepe Chedraui Budib, and the head of the Citizens' Security Secretariat (SSC), Fernando Rosales Solís, who emphasized the municipal government's commitment to the police forces.
Alongside the Explorer units, 85 2024 VW Virtus units and 15 electric 2024 and 2025 BYD Seal units were introduced, the latter recognized for their low energy consumption and also equipped with sound and light codes. The comprehensive security approach also includes actions in sports and culture.
Regarding the importance of investing in human and material resources to strengthen security strategies, Fernando Rosales Solís stated: “Acquiring 200 patrols is an essential investment for officers to perform their work with dignity and efficiency, ensuring safety in the territorial deployment of our city.”
José Luis García Parra, coordinator of the state cabinet, highlighted the priority that security represents in Puebla for the state government, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts among different institutions to achieve greater effectiveness in protecting citizens.
