The governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier, expressed his concern about the corruption that has arisen around towing yards and towing services in the state. During a press conference, Armenta Mier highlighted that these companies have become a problem for both drivers and transporters, describing them as "nests of corruption."
The governor announced that meetings will be held with the concessionaires of towing yards and towing services, led by the Secretary of State Governance and the Secretary of Mobility and Transport, with the aim of regularizing their situation. Those companies that do not voluntarily come forward within the established deadline will be subjected to inspections, and starting March 11, their concessions will be revoked.
Armenta Mier indicated that many drivers are victims of fraud by these companies, which sometimes prefer to leave vehicles in the towing yards because the costs of towing and storage exceed the value of the vehicle itself. In that sense, the governor expressed his commitment to stop this situation and combat the corruption that prevails in vehicle towing, especially in public transport.
Regarding safety on the roads, Armenta Mier announced that a comprehensive strategy will be implemented by the National Guard, the Navy, the Secretary of National Defense, and the state government. The governor called for an end to the abusive practices of towing and towing yard companies that harm transportation on the roads, emphasizing the importance of regularizing and controlling these activities.
