The state government of Puebla, led by Alejandro Armenta Mier, expressed its support for the position of the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, regarding the 25% tariffs imposed by the United States on Mexican products. They consider this measure to be unilateral and highlighted Mexico's achievements in the fight against drug trafficking, especially fentanyl.
In a statement, the state administration expressed its backing for the actions that Sheinbaum Pardo plans to present next Sunday, March 9, at the Zócalo in the capital to counteract U.S. tariff policy. Additionally, they reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the national economy, ensuring that they will not allow tariffs to affect economic growth or job creation.
The Puebla government emphasized that any attempt at defamation that calls into question Mexico's efforts in the fight against fentanyl trafficking and security is unacceptable. They reminded that the country has fulfilled its international commitments in security, maintaining its autonomy and rejecting external impositions.
"This support reinforces the unity of the Mexican government in the face of trade tensions with the United States and highlights the importance of maintaining effective policies against drug trafficking while defending the economic sovereignty of the country," concluded the state government of Puebla.
