The governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta Mier, reported that the company Melgarejo Construcciones attempted to secretly negotiate an excessive payment of one billion pesos, labeling the proposal as "indecorous." Armenta firmly rejected this request, calling the contract rigged and an offense, and assured that he will not comply with the order to pay that amount, even if it leads to his dismissal.
The governor recalled that the federal judiciary had ruled in favor of the company, demanding a payment of 600 million pesos from the Government of Puebla, but the previous administration refused to comply and decided to continue litigating. Armenta emphasized that the safety of citizens is his priority and questioned the idea of paying such a high amount to a company that did not fulfill its part, denouncing the complicity of the judiciary in this matter.
According to Armenta, the investment made in studies for the project was 60 million pesos, and his government has taken the case to the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. The governor expressed his rejection of carrying out works in a non-transparent manner, as illustrated by the costly maintenance of the Integral Services Center and the Puebla Cable Car, the latter being considered a "monument to corruption."
Armenta remained firm in his stance of not paying a single peso to Melgarejo Construcciones, citing examples of detrimental contracts for the state. In the case of the Cable Car, he highlighted that the monthly maintenance amounts to 25 million pesos, with unfavorable clauses for the entity that could result in fines.
With these statements, Armenta denounced corrupt practices in the management of public works and reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and legality in his mandate.
