New Secretary of Public Security Appointed in Puebla

Félix Pallares Miranda, a colonel in the Infantry of the General Staff, has been appointed as the next Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) of the Puebla City Council. Pallares Miranda has a solid military background and support from the Federation, which strengthens his profile to take on this position.

The appointment of Pallares Miranda was consulted with Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security under Claudia Sheinbaum, which provides confidence in his management. The Mayor of Puebla, José (Pepe) Chedraui, will officially propose his appointment to the Council for subsequent ratification. The council is expected to vote and approve the proposal during this week, with the intention that the new secretary will take office before March 25.

On the other hand, Pallares Miranda will take the position left vacant by Fernando Rosales Solís, who resigned on March 4 after protests from the municipal police following the murder of two of his colleagues. The new SSC secretary is a lieutenant colonel in the Infantry of the General Staff, with an outstanding career in the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena).

During the presidency of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Pallares Miranda served as Chief of the Section of Procurement of Spare Parts and Land Vehicles. He was also the representative of the XXI Military Zone in Morelia, Michoacán. With this appointment, the aim is to strengthen municipal security in Puebla and tackle the challenges in this area with a professional approach supported at both local and federal levels.
