Céspedes Leads INM with New Collaborators

The former prosecutor of Puebla, Gilberto Higuera Bernal, and the former legal advisor of the state, Jonathan Ávalos Meléndez, have joined the team of the National Institute of Migration (INM), now under the direction of the former governor of Puebla, Sergio Salomón Céspedes Peregrina. Other former officials from Céspedes' administration in Puebla, such as Carlos Reyes Espinosa and Eugenio Mora Salgado, also joined the Institute.

Céspedes Peregrina confirmed the appointments before attending the civic-military parade on May 5 in Puebla, explaining that his approach to integrating the team is based on the experience and seniority of the profiles. He detailed that Higuera will be the new coordinator of Representation (OR) of the Institute, while Ávalos will take on the role of legal subcommissioner.

Regarding criticisms about the treatment of migrants, Céspedes Peregrina mentioned that they will seek to implement a public policy focused on transparency, respect for human rights, and security, pointing out the interest of President Claudia Sheinbaum in this matter. They are coordinating efforts with the Ministry of Foreign Relations, consulates, and the Ministry of the Interior to develop a welcoming and care policy both in Mexico and the United States, which is accepted nationwide and guarantees respect for the human rights of all.

It is noteworthy that during Céspedes Peregrina's first meeting as director of the INM on May 1, his new collaborators were already present, most of them coming from Puebla.
