Puebla Mayor Addresses Audit Observations

The municipal president of Puebla, José Chedraui Budib, stated that it is the obligation of his administration to present all the information required by the Superior Audit Office of the State (ASE). A detailed report from the Municipal Comptroller is expected next week regarding the observations made on the public account of former mayor Eduardo Rivera Pérez. Chedraui Budib made it clear that no data will be hidden and actions will be taken with transparency, evaluating which observations can be resolved, which are substantiated, and whether it is necessary to file complaints for possible irregularities.

The mayor indicated that only information received during the transition process can be provided, being unable to be responsible for documentation not delivered. Inquiries to various departments revealed that none were aware of certain payments or related services, highlighting the need to clarify any missing data. Chedraui Budib emphasized his government's stance of not covering up past acts of corruption and informing any updates transparently so that the ASE can take the necessary measures.

Amid this situation, the ASE detected a possible asset damage of 261.2 million pesos in the municipal public accounts for the fiscal year 2023 of the Puebla City Council, during the period when Eduardo Rivera was a candidate for governor for the PAN.

Additionally, Chedraui Budib revealed that the municipal Treasury filed a complaint related to an invoice of 33 million pesos, for which it is unclear to whom the debt is owed or for what reason. This invoice, he explained, was submitted to the Registry Office without legal backing, raising doubts about its validity and destination.
