The Ministry of Mobility and Transport (SMT) of Puebla announced the strengthening of its proximity agents corps, with the aim of expanding coverage and improving attention in the state. The head of the department, Silvia Tanus Osorio, informed that it is planned to reach a total of 340 elements, who will be deployed mainly within the entity. During an interview, the official detailed that, in a first stage, 90 positions will be transferred in coordination with the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), to subsequently increase the number gradually. Tanus Osorio explained that applicants must be university graduates between 24 and 35 years of age, who will receive specialized training. In addition, they will be equipped with bodycams and units for their transfer, in order to strengthen their field work. Uber gives up on amparo, will have to comply with obligations. In another matter, the official confirmed that the company Uber gave up on the amparo it had promoted last year in Puebla, so it will now have to comply with the current state regulation no later than the end of April. She indicated that the official notification was received last week, which implies that the platform will have to adjust to the same guidelines that govern public transport in the entity. Among the provisions it must comply with are the formal registration of its units, which number between 10,000 and 11,000 in the state, mainly in the metropolitan area, as well as the obligation for its drivers to have certified licenses. Likewise, the company must guarantee labor benefits in accordance with the law, including social security for its partner drivers, in addition to completing the vehicle and operator registry to fully regularize its service. The head of the SMT pointed out that the amparo filed by the company delayed the application of these measures by three to four months. These measures were established since last year and are also linked to the renewal of operating permits. Finally, she specified that, unlike Uber, the Didi platform still has a valid authorization to operate in Puebla, which was granted for a period of 10 years.
