Sheinbaum Denies Scolding Protesters in Puebla

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum denied reports that she scolded a group of protesters during her work tour in Puebla this weekend. She explained that she raised her voice because the protesters were not letting her speak, but she never reprimanded them. From the National Palace, the president explained how the events in Puebla unfolded. She stated that before her event, where she was with Governor Alejandro Armenta, a group of protesters wanted to meet with her. She agreed to do so after the event concluded. The protesters expressed their demands, and they reached an agreement to reopen the facilities. Sheinbaum also recalled that when she was head of government of Mexico City, she experienced a similar incident where protesters closed the doors of the City Hall. In that case, she also came out to dialogue with the group. The president mentioned her habit of engaging with protesters, citing an example from her time as head of Tlalpan, where she met with merchants protesting a bike lane.
