Puebla Mayor Proposes Free Parking in Historic Center

The municipal president of Puebla, José Chedraui Budib, announced his intention to eliminate the meter charges in the Historic Center, allowing citizens to park for free for a maximum of three hours. During a press conference, he explained that the proposal is based on the analysis conducted in the Commission of Heritage and Finance, and efforts will be made to modify the 2025 Revenue Law to implement this measure.

The proposal will be put to a vote in the City Council to discuss the feasibility of making parking meters completely free. "We reviewed what was presented in the Commission and we are going to propose in the City Council that there be no charge for the use of parking meters, allowing free parking on public roads," the mayor stated during the conference.

The decision to eliminate parking meter charges responds to the demands of various sectors of the population who requested discounts for seniors, people with disabilities, students, and workers in the Center. To use the parking meters for free, it is established that drivers must register within the first 15 minutes of arriving at the parking space and may remain for up to three hours in the same spot at no cost.

If this measure is approved in the City Council, it is expected to come into effect next year, with the aim of facilitating access to the Historic Center and providing support to citizens who need to park in this area.
