The municipality of Querétaro has collected 800 million pesos in property taxes in January, showing a 3% increase from last year. Citizens have embraced the payment options and discounts available.

The Secretary of Finance of the municipality of Querétaro, Carlos León González, reported that in the first month of collecting the property tax, 800 million pesos were collected. More than 50% of the cadastral keys have already been paid, and it is expected that this percentage will increase to 70% during the first quarter of the year.

"We have more than 52% of keys that have already paid. I want to thank all the citizens of the municipality because they have been going efficiently, through various payment methods, platforms, the 7 delegations, banks, they are taking advantage of the 12% discount that ends in January and also the property insurance for homes or businesses and for pets."

During January, it is expected to receive payments for 10,000 cadastral keys, and February will also be an important month, with an 8% discount, aiming for 70% of the keys to be paid by the end of the first quarter of the year.

Regarding the insurance provided with the property tax payment, González mentioned that it is with the company INBURSA through a contract of 27 million pesos. The insurance takes effect from the moment the property tax payment is made, covering accidents, thefts, and final expenses for pets, as well as providing insurance for businesses.

Collection has increased by 3% compared to the previous year, reflecting the trust of the people of Querétaro in how the budget is utilized. Programs like Mayor in Action or the Civic Guard show the population the destination of their taxes.

During January, a 70% discount is offered on enforcement costs for people with fines or penalties on their properties. About 6,000 cadastral keys are in this situation, representing between 2 and 3% of the total.

The 800 million pesos collected are equivalent to 10% of the total budget of the municipality of Querétaro (7,600 million pesos), which is comparable to the total budget of the Ministry of Social Development of the municipality.
