The Federal Consumer Attorney's Office (Profeco) announced its intention to revoke the operating permits of gas stations that systematically refuse to be inspected, as this attitude could indicate unethical practices. As an example, Profeco mentioned that during a visit to the Gaso Siete SA de CV service station in Querétaro, the staff prevented the authorities from conducting inspections, in addition to not having the calibration holograms for 2025 and selling gasoline at a price lower than the national average.
Subsequently, the same situation occurred at the El Retablo SA de CV service station, where a person obstructed access to the authorities and was made available to the competent authorities. The attorney of Profeco, Iván Escalante Ruiz, pointed out that if the owners of gas stations repeatedly refuse to be inspected, something is wrong.
For his part, Armando Ocampo from the ASEA explained that the General Law of Ecological Equilibrium and Environmental Protection allows for the definitive closing of the installation and the revocation of the permit in coordination with the National Energy Commission (CNE) or the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).
On another topic, in the last month, the average price of regular gasoline in Mexico has decreased by 2%, according to data from the consultancy PETROIntelligence. Currently, 18 entities in the country are selling gasoline below 24 pesos per liter, which was agreed upon between the Government and gas station owners. Tamaulipas, Chihuahua, Sonora, Baja California, and Tlaxcala are some of the entities with the most economical gasoline prices, while Quintana Roo, Nuevo León, and Baja California Sur have the highest levels.
Although not all entities comply with the maximum price suggested by the Government, most have reduced their prices in the last month. Nayarit is one of the states that has reduced its prices the most, while Tabasco showed a slight increase in gasoline prices.
