Sheinbaum Defends Mexico's Sovereignty at Constitution Day Event

The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, gave a strong message at the Teatro de la República in Querétaro, stating that in the face of any attempt to undermine the sovereignty of Mexico, the people will respond with bravery. In an event attended by the President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Norma Lucía Piña, Sheinbaum declared that Mexico is a free and independent country, rejecting any form of interference, interventionism, racism, or classism.

Focusing on the defense of rights and the Mexican homeland, Sheinbaum also emphasized the unity of the country, acknowledging the importance of Mexican migrants living abroad. These statements come after an agreement with U.S. President Donald Trump to pause the imposition of tariffs on Mexican products in exchange for deploying 10,000 elements of the National Guard at the border to combat drug trafficking, especially fentanyl, and control migration.

The recent agreements between Sheinbaum and Trump aim to combat threats such as the trade deficit, irregular migration, and fentanyl trafficking. In response to the threat of imposing tariffs on all Mexican products, Sheinbaum rejected Washington's accusations of an alleged alliance between cartels and the Mexican government, labeling them as "terribly irresponsible."

During her speech at the event for Constitution Day, the Mexican leader highlighted the importance of defending national sovereignty and the dignity of the Mexican people against interventionist pressures. Sheinbaum reminded that Mexico is a sovereign, free, and independent country, and that it will not be subjected by anyone. Without directly mentioning the United States, the President rejected any attempt to violate the sovereignty and dignity of Mexico and its people.

In a call for cooperation without subordination, and collaboration without submission, Sheinbaum emphasized the need to safeguard the greatness of Mexico and its history against possible threats.
