In 2025, the federal government made a cut of approximately 500 million pesos for health services in the state of Querétaro, which has caused delays in the delivery of medical supplies. Although an initial cut of 350 million was mentioned, it turned out to be 43% higher. This measure adds to similar reductions applied in 2024, where economic resources and supplies directly allocated to the State Health Secretariat were also decreased.

"I am talking a lot with the Secretary of Health, who has been very open, truly with much willingness and with the Secretary of Finance. In total, he cut 24 million pesos, of which 12.6 million were earmarked for cancer treatments and 10.7 million for the Universal Vaccination Program," mentioned the state's governor, Mauricio Kuri González. To counter this situation, the state government will allocate 6,294 million pesos to the health sector in 2025, which represents an increase of 168 million compared to the previous year.

At the end of last year, Governor Kuri González expressed his concern about the expected budget reduction by the federation in the 32 entities, which would primarily affect the supply of supplies and payment to health workers. According to the state leader, the federal Health Secretariat has not sent all the scheduled supplies for the entity in the first third of the year, which could impact public health services towards the end of the year.

Despite the situation, the governor emphasized that he maintains a good relationship with the Secretary of Health, David Kershenobich. In this sense, both are working on resource management in the Treasury to address the sector's needs and ensure the continuity of health services in Querétaro.
