The municipal president of Querétaro, Felipe Fernando Macías Olvera, stated that the "Order Plan" being implemented does not aim to be a heavy-handed measure, but rather an action to preserve tranquility in the Historic Center, in response to the request of established merchants in the area.
During a confrontation that occurred on Friday between merchants and the municipal police, Macías backed the actions of the officers, ensuring that it was carried out "fully in accordance with protocols." He emphasized that the city will maintain order and respect for the law, with the Historic Center as a symbol of this policy.
Regarding accusations of repression and classism by Morena and other political actors, the municipal president considered it a misinformation strategy driven by a party that fosters protests and blockades that create public disorder. "It is clear which parties promote order and which incite road closures and disturbances to public order," he asserted.
Concerning the artisans, Macías assured that dialogue and alternatives to strengthen their commerce remain, with no plans for change. He clarified that the individuals detained during the operation, mostly for violent conduct, have already been released after fulfilling the corresponding administrative sanction.
Dialogue sessions resumed on Saturday, where the municipality proposed new alternatives to relocate artisans and merchants to specific sales points, reaffirming the commitment to maintain order in the Historic Center and support local commerce. Macías insisted that this is not about imposing a heavy-handed approach, but about enforcing the law and regulations, explaining that the conflict arose due to a group that has refused to engage in dialogue with the authorities.
