The union leader, Erik Osornio Medina, thanked the presence of other union organizations during his inauguration as secretary general of the executive committee of the Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM) in Querétaro for the period 2024-2030. In his speech, he committed to permanently defending the labor rights of workers in the region, seeking better benefits, working conditions, training, and union programs for families.
He also emphasized the importance of ensuring that support intended for companies reaches workers directly and not to union leaders who fail to fulfill their duties, stressing that the benefits obtained must be for the workers and not for corrupt union leaders.
Osornio Medina also highlighted that CATEM is an organization that mobilizes in favor of workers, without the need for external invitations, and expressed his willingness to provide support to those workers who request it. He called on other unions and federal and state authorities to respect the will of workers in their decision to join a union, promoting an environment of respect and autonomy in the workplace.
For his part, Pedro Haces Barba, National Leader of CATEM, supported Erik Osornio's work in Querétaro and nationally, highlighting his commitment to defending labor rights, improving working conditions, and training for workers and their families. During the event, Osornio Medina thanked the workers of Querétaro for their trust, emphasizing that his leadership in CATEM is due to the support of the 20,000 workers who are part of the confederation in the state.
