Querétaro could be a training venue for teams in 2026

The governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, revealed that efforts are being made for the state to be considered as a training location for the national teams of Spain or Uruguay during the FIFA World Cup 2026. Although the final decision will depend on the official FIFA draw that will define the venues and groups of the tournament.

"We have talked a lot with many teams that have the intention of coming here to Querétaro, but first the draw would have to happen to see who is close by because if it is too far away it would not be convenient for them to stay in Querétaro," explained the governor.

Querétaro has sports facilities suitable for hosting these training sessions to high standards, such as the La Loma complex and the Municipal Stadium, which could serve as venues for the selected teams. "We have many places where they can train, La Loma, here at the municipal stadium, but this will be defined by the draw," Kuri added.

Due to its central location in the country and its proximity to the World Cup venues in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, Querétaro presents itself as an attractive option for the teams participating in the World Cup.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will take place from June 11 to July 19 and will be the first time it is organized in three countries: Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The official draw, which will define the groups and venues, is scheduled for December 2025. The tournament will feature 48 teams and 104 matches, of which Mexico will host 13 games in the cities of Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.
