The group Desaparecidos Querétaro will join the second National Humanitarian Search Day to be held on April 19 and 20 in the capital of Querétaro and San Juan del Río in commemoration of the Day of Searching Families. The spokesperson for the organization, Yadira González, announced that activities will begin with a peaceful protest in Plaza de Armas on Saturday, April 19. During this protest, flyers of missing persons will be posted, and each of them will be mentioned to raise awareness about the disappearance crisis in Mexico.
As for Sunday, April 20, the members of the group will conduct a search day in different parts of the city, possibly including San Juan del Río. During these actions, protests will also take place to denounce the lack of support and omissions by the authorities regarding missing persons and their families. As Yadira González mentioned, a peaceful protest action will be held to give visibility to those who have lost their voice and whose lives have been taken away, yet are still loved and relentlessly sought.
These activities in Querétaro are part of a national mobilization that brings together more than 70 groups of relatives of missing persons in 23 states of the country. The objective of the day is to keep the memory of the missing alive, demand answers from the Mexican state, and strengthen the organization of searching families in the face of institutional neglect. According to data from the National Registry of Missing and Unlocated Persons, as of April 18, 635 missing persons were reported in Querétaro, while the total number across Mexico amounts to 127,291 missing persons.
