New Safety Measures for Entertainment Venues in Queretaro

In Querétaro, the municipal presidents of Querétaro, Corregidora, El Marqués, Huimilpan, and San Juan del Río have signed a coordination agreement to implement a unified strategy for regulating establishments selling alcoholic beverages over the next three years. This is due to recent violent events in two bars in the capital that have raised concerns in the community.

One of the main agreed measures is to establish a cutoff time for alcohol sales, set until 1:30 AM. Additionally, there is a goal to standardize these regulations at the state level to combat issues such as the sale of adulterated beverages. There is a focus on ensuring that establishments meet the necessary security conditions to operate.

The Secretary of Government, Carlos Alcaraz, highlighted the importance of these agreements to improve safety in entertainment spaces. He expressed that the initiative will be promoted in the rest of the municipalities to ensure the safety and peace of the inhabitants of Querétaro.

Among the additional measures to be implemented are conducting evacuation drills every three months, inspections to verify safety measures, civil protection, fire systems and alarms, emergency exits, and protocols against disturbances among customers. It will also be required that establishments do not provide plastic cups to customers for take-out beverages.
