In Querétaro, the M108 Curatorship Gallery was inaugurated, a new cultural space promoted by the art collector and head of Notary 30, Iván Lomelí. The opening was attended by state and municipal authorities, where Lomelí Avendaño highlighted that this project was the result of three years of work aimed at enriching the offer of contemporary art in the capital through exhibitions and workshops of local, national, and international artists.
The museum, located at Madero 108, joins the 47 existing museums in the state of Querétaro, which received over 876,000 visitors last year. The M108 Gallery features spaces for temporary exhibitions, a sculptural garden, a pavilion for presentations, and a department to accommodate artists. Its permanent collection includes works by renowned artists such as Leonora Carrington, Rodolfo Nieto, Francisco Toledo, Sergio Hernández, and Gabriel Orozco, among others.
The Secretary of Culture, Ana Paola López Birlain, officially declared the gallery inaugurated, highlighting the commitment of the private initiative to create spaces dedicated to art and culture. For his part, the director of the Gallery, Roberto González, expressed that the place seeks to create community through the exhibition, discussion, and dissemination of works from different styles, places, and eras.
This new cultural space in the Historic Center of Querétaro is the result of the vision of a businessman who has collected artistic objects since he was young. The M108 Curatorship Gallery presents itself as a project that will enrich the cultural and artistic life of the city, offering an opportunity for emerging artists, the general public, and the citizens to admire, learn about, and project Querétaro as a reference in the artistic field.
