Change of food supplier in hospitals of Querétaro

The Health Secretariat of Querétaro changed food suppliers in hospitals due to accusations of poor quality. The company Especialidades Comerciales Reyes S.A. de C.V. begins its service with a contract of 95.4 million pesos.

The Health Secretariat in Querétaro has decided not to renew the contract with the company Especialidades Comerciales Reyes S.A. de C.V. despite its commitment to improve the service, following the scandal at the General Hospital where the company was accused of serving spoiled food to workers. The new contractor will receive 95.4 million pesos for one year of service, 10% more than its predecessor, Eximprod S.A. de C.V., whose contract in 2024 was for 86.7 million.

The Health Secretary, Martina Pérez Rendón, indicated that the new company met the bidding requirements and that in the first days of operation there have been no complaints from the workers about the quality of the food. She also emphasized that she will remain in constant communication with the directors of the state hospitals to ensure nutritional and hygiene standards.

The transition process has been ongoing since October of last year when it was announced that Eximprod S.A. de C.V. would not renew its contract due to accusations of food contamination at the General Hospital. The previous provider had been in charge of the hospital cafeterias since 2022. Since the beginning of the year, hospitals in the state already have a new food supplier.
