During the past weekend in the Metropolitan Area of Querétaro, two armed attacks resulted in one fatality and nine injuries from firearm wounds. In one of the incidents, armed individuals assaulted the attendees, resulting in one death and six injuries, while in another shooting at the bar "Crudería de Moy" in Mompaní, three people were injured.
The head of the judicial body reported that the corresponding investigation files were opened for both situations and assured that progress is being made in the harmonization of security measures in nightclubs in conjunction with the state government. The mayor of Querétaro, Felipe Fernando Macías, announced the closure of the bar due to various anomalies in its operation and detailed that the area will receive increased police presence to identify irregular establishments.
Despite the events, it was clarified that there is no evidence of a relationship between the two attacks, and the need for thorough investigations to determine the causes and perpetrators of these incidents was emphasized. In the case of the shooting in Mompaní, it was indicated that the responsibility for security at the location falls on the owner, who could face the revocation of their operating and alcohol sale license, as noted by the state government's secretary.
The state attorney general confirmed that one of the incidents took place in the community of Los Ángeles, in Corregidora, during the wake of two people previously murdered at the same site in late April.
