The coordinator of State Civil Protection, Javier Amaya, anticipated that in the coming days he will hold a meeting with educational authorities to establish the winter schedule, which is expected to begin in early November due to the drop in temperatures. In this meeting with representatives of Usebeq and the State Secretary of Education, the addition of 30 minutes to the start time in 2,111 educational institutions for preschool, primary, and secondary education will be discussed to reduce risks from low temperatures.
"In the coming dates we will have meetings with Usebeq and with the State Secretary of Education to determine how the winter season issue is coming, right now for example we are in cold front number 5 that is already in the center of the country, we are going to have temperature drops in the coming days, it will gradually go down, especially in the higher parts of the state that tend to be the most affected," explained Amaya.
The Secretary of Education, Martha Elena Soto, estimated that the winter schedule will go into effect around the second half of November, highlighting that it will be analyzed with Civil Protection to define the start specifically.
Regarding the rains, Javier Amaya mentioned that the federal government has a project to intervene in a section of Federal Highway 120 in Pinal de Amoles, known for being prone to landslides. After a slight landslide in the area was reported, there were no injuries or serious impacts on the roadway. "It is recurrent during the rainy season, it is a federal section, so I understand that the Secretary of Communications of the federal government already has some project, it has not been presented to us but that was the comment made in the last intervention we had in that area," concluded Amaya.
