The mayor of Querétaro has introduced a digital platform called "Decide Querétaro" to encourage citizen participation in the election of public works in the city. This tool allows residents to assign between 1 and 5 coins to each proposed project, increasing the chances of its implementation. It is important to highlight that the votes will influence the design of the Annual Public Works Plan and ensure equitable distribution of the budget among the 7 delegations of the city.
The mayor emphasized the importance of the population becoming aware of the needs of the entire city, as there are multiple neighborhoods with diverse requirements. He invited citizens to carefully review all proposed works before casting their vote. It was also informed that the application will allow the suggestion of works not included in the voting options, attaching a description and photographs for consideration in the Works Plan.
Participation in the public works consultation can be done through the application, WhatsApp, or in person at the corresponding delegations. Additionally, a campaign of brigadiers will be carried out to gather opinions in the communities of the Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Santa Rosa Jáuregui delegations. It was explained that the platform will continue to be used to consult the opinions of citizens on future issues.
The "Decide Querétaro" application gives users the ability to vote on different types of works with a total of 10 coins to allocate. This initiative, led by the Municipal President and the Secretary of Innovation and Technology of the capital, will be active from January 20 to February 20, during which citizens can choose the works they consider priorities for their municipality. Some of the included proposals are the restoration of the Lienzo Charro, a bike lane in Carrillo Puerto, and the rehabilitation of the median on Pasteur street, although these are not part of the voting options but are presented to gauge the opinion of the population.
