In Querétaro, social policy has transformed into a joint effort between the government and society, ceasing to be an imposed model. Citizen participation has been fundamental in constructing the social policy strategy presented by Governor Mauricio Kuri. It has been recognized that the best way to address citizens' needs is by involving them in decision-making and generating constant dialogue.
An effective social policy requires starting from the real needs of the population and their vision on how to improve their quality of life. In this regard, listening to each sector of the population allows for the construction of fairer, more inclusive, and effective strategies. In Querétaro, the goal is to protect the food supply and the economy of families through eight social programs that complement the existing ones.
From Congress, a social policy model is promoted based on closeness to citizens. Neighborhoods and communities have been visited to hear firsthand the concerns of Querétaro families. The challenges are many: ensuring access to quality education, strengthening healthcare, promoting job creation, improving security, and reducing inequalities.
The active participation of society is essential to tackle these challenges, as when people get involved, public policies stop being mere documents and become real solutions with tangible impact. A clear example of this participation is the construction of social programs based on citizen forums, where people not only express concerns but also propose ideas and alternatives.
