Governor of Querétaro Supports 40-Hour Workday

The governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, expressed his satisfaction with the announcement of the implementation of a 40-hour workweek by the federal government. He considered it important that this measure does not affect competitiveness in the different economic sectors. President Claudia Sheinbaum had stated that this workweek would be instituted gradually to be consolidated by 2030.

In a meeting with workers and union leaders on the occasion of Labor Day, Kuri González emphasized the willingness of both parties to engage in dialogue and reach agreements to maintain a peaceful labor environment in the entity. So far, according to the governor, no company has expressed opposition to the 40-hour workweek.

"I see that we are all on the same objective, for Querétaro to do well, understanding that the best social program is work," emphasized Kuri González. He highlighted the importance of maintaining productivity in companies and not allowing it to be reduced, despite the reduction in working hours. In this regard, he considered it crucial to maintain competitiveness in the market, so the gradual implementation of this measure by 2030 is seen as positive.
