The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, assured today the support of the Armed Forces after an attack that left 10 dead and 13 injured at a bar in Querétaro, a city in the center of the country known for its industry and tourism.
Sheinbaum expressed her commitment to work closely with the governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri, as well as with the Secretary of Citizen Security, Omar García Harfuch, and the Armed Forces to provide all necessary support to the state.
The attack that occurred on Saturday at the bar 'Los Cantaritos' in Querétaro generated national shock due to the shocking images of customers, including women, throwing themselves to the ground to protect themselves from the bullets. The governor of Querétaro stated that the aggression was specifically directed at criminals.
The Mexican leader mentioned that one person has been arrested in connection with the incident and that the attackers were specifically looking for a particular individual. However, she indicated that more details would be provided on Tuesday by the security cabinet.
In the early months of Sheinbaum's presidency, which began on October 1, several episodes of violence have impacted the country. Last week, for example, 11 bodies of merchants were discovered inside an abandoned truck in Guerrero, a state in southern Mexico.
