After identifying the victims of the attack at the Los Cantaritos bar in Querétaro, it was revealed that among the deceased was Fernando G., alias La Flaca, a suspected member of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
The President of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, announced that the target of the attack was a specific person, possibly La Flaca, who had previously recruited hitmen through social media by offering payments for the use of firearms. Fernando G. was related to fuel theft and showcased luxuries on social media, including a tactical vest with the cartel's initials.
Initial investigations indicate that there is a territorial dispute in Querétaro between the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel. Another victim in the bar, Jesús Alberto Arteaga Montenegro, also shared images on social media posing with long weapons.
After the incident, the state president of the PRI in Querétaro, Abigail Arredondo Ramos, expressed regret over Arteaga's death in a post that was later deleted. Jesús Alberto Arteaga Montenegro was the nephew of Joaquín and Jorge Mario Montenegro Gutiérrez, members of the Institutional Revolutionary Party.
