Controversy Over Bar Shooting in Querétaro

The state leader of the PRI, Abigail Arredondo, confirmed that one of the fatalities in the shooting at Bar Los Cantaritos is related to a person linked to the party. Regarding the accusations that arose on social media about alleged ties to organized crime of this person, the federal deputy said that it is not the time to point fingers.

"He is the nephew of two people who have worked many years for the party, from a leadership that has been here for a long time, I also believe that one cannot give a pointing, in that way, we are talking about being very cautious and I think the obligation we all have is to wait for information to arrive."

It should be noted that both on Arredondo's social media and on the state leadership's social media, obituaries were published in memory of the deceased on November 10, which were deleted on November 11 when information circulated on social media about a possible connection of this person to drug trafficking.

Regarding the wave of violence in the municipality of Querétaro, the deputy commented that the state is no longer exempt from criminal activities and violence in the streets, and also said that there is a sense of concern due to the events that took place last week.

"We believed we were exempt from what was happening kilometers or only meters away in states like Michoacan, Guanajuato, the State of Mexico, or Hidalgo, and today what hurts us all and makes us put a stop, is to say that we are no longer exempt in the state, so the call is to work together with the authorities regardless of whether it touches me or you, we need to see who has licenses, who has these places."

She added that due to the state's economic growth, with large companies investing their capital in Querétaro, money is also coming for nightclubs, so she believes it should be a priority for authorities to control these recreational spaces in the search for peace to return to the state.

For his part, fellow federal deputy Mario Calzada Mercado lamented the situation that occurred at Bar Los Cantaritos and pointed out that it is timely for federal, state, and other levels of government to be already working to clarify the facts and find those responsible.
