The shooting attack that occurred on the night of November 9 at a bar in Querétaro was primarily aimed at Fernando González Núñez, also known as 'La Flaca', a man associated with the CJNG. However, the gunfire left nine other people dead and 13 more injured. This event became one of the most significant acts of violence during the first month and a half of President Claudia Sheinbaum's government.
Regarding 'La Flaca', he was a target of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, which succeeded in eliminating him in the shooting. It is noteworthy that the year prior to the attack was turbulent for this member of the CJNG, having been in prison on two occasions.
Fernando Núñez, 31 years old, was an operator of the CJNG in Querétaro and was characterized by having a rather flashy profile. He even offered vacancies in the criminal organization through his social media accounts, which have since been deleted. On his Threads account, he was seen posing with firearms, rifles with telescopic sights, and flaunting a life of luxury with private jets, luxury watches, designer clothing, and a Lamborghini. Some of his posts encouraged to "do things with fear" and offered weekly payments to those skilled in handling firearms.
According to federal sources cited by the newspaper El País, 'La Flaca' was linked to fuel theft in Querétaro and was arrested in March and August of this year for possession of firearms. It is presumed that his murder in the bar 'Los Cantaritos' was due to a settling of scores with the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, which, although not as strong as the CJNG, has a presence in the region. Investigations indicate that the shooting at the bar was the result of a settling of scores between the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
