During the last weekend, violence intensified in different regions of Mexico. The federal Security Secretary, Omar García Harfuch, made significant advances against organized crime with the detention of leaders of Los Ardillos in Querétaro and Roberto 'N', alias 'El Bukanas', in an operation in collaboration with armed forces and intelligence.
'El Bukanas', a former police officer from Veracruz, is accused of leading a criminal group dedicated to fuel theft and drug trafficking. Past connections with Los Zetas and current ones with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel place him as a high-value target. These actions precede the future of Mexico following the elections in the United States, where Donald Trump was re-elected.
The arrest of 'El Bukanas' in Querétaro represents a significant blow to crime in Guerrero, the scene of recent brutal attacks. His capture strengthens cooperation with the U.S., which demands decisive measures against crime. The Security strategy aims to ingratiate itself with the Trump administration and show its commitment to the fight against organized crime.
Another notable case was the detention of 'La Garza', leader of the criminal group ravaging Guerrero. This action adds to others such as the arrest of an individual linked to money laundering and fentanyl trafficking, as well as evidence of the security forces' commitment to pursuing criminal figures. 'El Bukanas' has shifted from fuel theft to trafficking in goods and migrants, becoming a key target.
