The Federal Consumer Prosecutor's Office (Profeco) announced that it recovered over 2.2 million pesos on behalf of consumers who reported the non-delivery of vehicles purchased from the Changan Saltillo dealership in Coahuila. According to the agency, six formal complaints were filed regarding the purchase of new cars for a total amount of 2 million 250 thousand 20 pesos. The affected individuals stated that despite making the requested payments, they did not receive the cars. "The complaints arose because the affected parties did not receive the vehicles they had allegedly purchased," Profeco indicated. The investigation revealed that payments were made to the personal account of a former agency employee, who had allegedly requested the deposits directly from the buyers. In response, the Consumer Defense Office (ODECO) in Coahuila intervened to initiate a conciliation process between the dealership and the affected consumers. As a result of the mediation, the Changan Saltillo dealership delivered the six claimed vehicles, with a combined value of 2,250,020 pesos. "It is important that consumers ensure that transfers or payments are made only to the corporate name of the provider," warned Profeco. The agency reiterated that it maintains open channels for receiving complaints and providing assistance to consumers through the Consumer Telephone and its digital platforms.
