Mayor of Saltillo Inaugurates First Stage of 10 Norte Avenue Rehabilitation

With an investment of 43.6 million pesos, Mayor Estefanía Mercado inaugurated the first stage of the rehabilitation of 10 Norte Avenue, one of the city's busiest thoroughfares. The project is part of a strategy to improve urban mobility and road safety in response to citizen demands. “We are delivering a project that responds to a real need of the people,” the mayor stated during the inauguration ceremony. The project involves the comprehensive rehabilitation of the corridor, including the reconstruction and widening of sidewalks, safe pedestrian crossings, universal accessibility, and the addition of a bidirectional bike lane. According to municipal authorities, the roadway directly benefits over 60,000 people who use it daily, with an indirect impact on more than 333,000 residents by improving connectivity in the area. “We want a city that can be walked, not just traversed,” affirmed Estefanía Mercado. In addition to paving, the works included the modernization of public lighting, road signage, and the adaptation of medians. 10 Norte Avenue connects residential, commercial, and service areas, so its rehabilitation was considered a priority within the municipal public works program. Local authorities indicated that this intervention is part of a broader strategy to recover public spaces and improve mobility in the city. The mayor highlighted that these projects are developed in coordination with the state government and in line with the urban development policy promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum. “It is a vision that puts people at the center and seeks to improve their quality of life,” she concluded.
