The Government of Tepic, led by Mayor Geraldine Ponce, presented the new tourism strategy for the city under the brand 'Tepic, Smile for You.' The main objective is to position the Nayarit capital as a key destination in Mexico and globally. Emphasizing the transformation of a city that had been neglected for many years, the mayor mentioned: 'Today, nearly four years later, we are ready to open our doors to national and international tourism.'
The official presentation took place in the Manuel Ávila Camacho hall of the cultural venue Los Pinos. During the event, the historical investment of more than 2 billion pesos in infrastructure, the renovation of 70% of the roadways, and the improvement of services in recent years in Tepic were highlighted. The new tourism strategy is based on four vocations that showcase the diversity of experiences the city offers: flavor, adventure, culture, and hospitality.
It was mentioned that Tepic places its indigenous communities at the center of its transformation, with the City of Indigenous Arts as a representative emblem. This cultural venue reflects the cultural wealth of the Wixárika, Odam, Nayeri, and Mexican communities through exhibitions, art, and gathering spaces.
Present at the presentation were the governor of Nayarit, Miguel Ángel Navarro, the undersecretary of Tourism, Sebastián Ramírez Mendoza, federal and Nayarit legislators. Governor Navarro highlighted that Tepic is ready to welcome the world by showcasing the best of its land, culture, and the warmth of its people. For his part, the undersecretary of Tourism, Sebastián Ramírez, emphasized the importance of tourism being an instrument of social inclusion and developing sustainably in harmony with natural resources.
At the end of the event, the mayor thanked the attendees and invited everyone to enjoy the local cuisine and the art of the indigenous peoples of Tepic.
