Mexican authorities are taking measures to assist deported migrants under the protocols established by the new President of the United States, Donald Trump, in Tijuana. The government of Claudia Sheinbaum is working on the establishment of a temporary shelter in this city to receive these migrants.
The Mexican Business Coordinating Council (CCE) offered 35 thousand jobs to Mexicans deported by the administration of Donald Trump. President Sheinbaum revealed that these vacancies will focus on the service and manufacturing sectors, among others.
This announcement follows the launch of the 'Mexico embraces you' strategy, a governmental initiative designed to reintegrate Mexicans deported by Trump. This strategy includes job promises, social programs, transportation support across the country, and a 'Welfare Country Card' worth 2,000 pesos.
The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila, confirmed the location of the temporary shelter in Tijuana, specifically on the upper floor of the Swap Meet Flamingos shopping plaza, about 15 kilometers from the San Ysidro International Port.
The 'Mexico embraces you' strategy will be implemented locally to assist the community of deported nationals. The shelter will be under the supervision of state authorities such as Mónica Vega and Alma Delia Ábrego, in coordination with the federal government led by Rosa Icela Rodríguez.
The Secretary of Government of Baja California mentioned that the announced support will be the responsibility of the federal Welfare Secretariat in conjunction with the National Institute of Migration (INM). So far, assistance to deported migrants has been timely, according to the governor's statements.
