The 2025 Tianguis Turístico, in its 49th edition and the first of a binational nature between Mexico and the United States, generated an economic impact of 1.38 billion pesos, according to Josefina Rodríguez, head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur). During a press conference, Rodríguez highlighted that half of the business meetings concluded in sales at this important event for the tourism industry in Mexico. The celebration of this Tianguis Turístico in Baja California led to hotel occupancy in Tijuana reaching 98% and in Rosarito at 95%. During the event, 35 newly launched national and international flight routes by Viva Aerobus, Volaris, and Aeroméxico were promoted. Regarding attendance, an average of 8,781 people attended per day, with 1,773 buyers participating. The participation of buyers from the United States increased by 40% due to proximity to the main tourist source market for Mexico and the event's diverse offerings. During this edition, the Tianguis Turístico focused on community tourism, for which Sectur developed a distinctive emblem to enhance experiences and establish practical standards with communities across the country. The next edition will take place in Acapulco, the birthplace of this event which celebrates half a century. It is important to mention that the Government of Claudia Sheinbaum is seeking to diversify the program's content to increase the presence of cultural events.
