Filmmaker George Nicholas has released his latest short film titled "Limit", which tells the story of a 16-year-old boy named Manuel who lives in Tijuana, Mexico. The plot centers around Manuel's life, who lives with his grandfather while his mother works in the United States, and how his world is changed after meeting a girl on his path.
Nicholas shared that the inspiration for the film came from a true story he read in 2017 about Cruz Velasquez Acevedo. Although he is not Mexican, Nicholas made an effort to ensure the film was authentic, taking all necessary precautions. The director also mentioned the challenges he faced while filming in a different country and maintaining an honest narrative, especially when dealing with social issues and adversities.
For his part, Gustavo Cruz, the protagonist of the story, expressed his excitement and gratitude for the premiere of the film in Mexico, highlighting the importance of the audience connecting with the message they wish to convey. The actor shared his desire for the audience to identify the dangers of associating with people involved in risky situations and to make wiser decisions.
Following the expectations generated around "Limit", Nicholas and Cruz reflected on the impact they hope to achieve with the work, particularly addressing issues at the Mexican border. Both are excited about the audience's reception and hope that the short film reaches a wide audience, allowing the message they seek to convey to be understood and appreciated by different viewers.
