Migration Crisis at the Border with Mexico

The president of the Coordinating Business Council (CCE), Carlos Jaramillo Silva, has stated that the city is preparing to receive migrants and facilitate their integration. On the other hand, at the National Palace, President Claudia Sheinbaum expresses concern about the possibility of an accelerated migration crisis and delayed responses from the Mexican state.

The government of Donald Trump has made progress on its promises regarding the border with Mexico, carrying out massive raids, sending troops, and declaring a migration crisis. It has been reported through an application that prior appointments at the ports of entry are no longer valid, creating uncertainty among migrants seeking to enter the United States legally.

Amid these events, border cities have prepared for a possible migration crisis more severe than expected. The cancellation of appointments has shocked thousands of migrants at the border, being assisted by local authorities such as the Director of Migrant Attention, José Luis Pérez Canchola.

The closure of the CBP One application, which facilitated appointments for legal entry into the United States, has left thousands of people waiting in shelters in Baja California. Given this situation, Mexican authorities fear a sudden increase in the migration crisis due to measures taken by the Trump administration.

In his inaugural speech, Donald Trump confirmed the declaration of a national emergency at the border with Mexico to curb illegal entries. This decision has directly impacted those who had scheduled appointments at border crossings, generating an atmosphere of uncertainty and tension in the region.
