Detention of American in Tijuana with Arsenal

In a joint operation between various security forces, a man of American nationality was detained while attempting to enter the country with an arsenal and ammunition through the 'El Chaparral' International Bridge in Tijuana, Baja California. The arrest was carried out as part of efforts to reinforce security at the northern border of Mexico, involving the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR), National Guard (GN), Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM). During the random inspection of the detained individual's vehicle, which had tinted windows making visibility difficult, officers discovered a considerable arsenal consisting of three long guns, two handguns, 19 magazines, and more than 2,000 useful cartridges of various calibers. This arsenal has been identified as belonging to the faction known as 'Los Rusos,' linked to the powerful Pacific Cartel. In a brief statement, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection assured that these actions framed in the National Security Strategy reaffirm the commitment to collaboration and bilateral coordination to strengthen security between both nations. In addition to weapons, three telescopic sights and a telescope were found, confirming the detained individual's intention to traffic high-powered equipment. The detainee was identified as Scott Harvey Daniel Lee Thompson, 41 years old. He was subsequently transferred to the Public Ministry to determine his legal situation and continue investigations. According to authorities, Thompson is linked to a criminal cell responsible for generating violence in the region.
