The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, made her first visit to the border since taking office. During her stay in the northern region of the country, she did not address the migrant issue or the situation of people in mobility, despite demands for changes in migration policies from activists, civil organizations, and municipal authorities.
Sheinbaum was welcomed by supporters at the Rosarito Beaches Convention Center, located 25 kilometers from Tijuana. In her speech, the president focused on presenting welfare programs, mentioning the Fourth Transformation and highlighting the importance of Mexican workers, as well as those living abroad.
The president reaffirmed the continuity of social programs promoted by former president López Obrador, ensuring that initiatives such as universal pension, support for youth, and assistance for people with disabilities will be maintained. She also announced new welfare programs aimed at women, students, and senior citizens.
Sheinbaum also mentioned her commitment to install pharmacies in Bank of Wellbeing branches so that people can obtain medications for free. Regarding judicial reform, the president assured that in June of next year, the election of judges, magistrates, and ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation will take place.
Finally, Sheinbaum emphasized the importance of people participating in the election of the Judiciary and reiterated her commitment to fulfill the mandate of the citizenry.
