
A family was rescued on Cerro Viejo thanks to a drone with a thermal camera and the quick action of Civil Protection and Firefighters from Tlajomulco. The family decided to walk after their motorcycle broke down, but they got lost in a ravine in San Miguel Cuyutlán. The reporter shared their location via GPS, which allowed the authorities to locate them more accurately.
“It was immediately that we conducted a drone flight with a thermal camera, flying over the area, and thus knowing more precisely the point where they were. Early in the morning, our personnel entered this area and managed to rescue them safe and sound, with some dehydration and with abrasions that the female had,” commented Diana Becerra, general director of Civil Protection and Firefighters of Tlajomulco.
The rescued family consisted of a 28-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman, and a one-and-a-half-year-old baby. The man showed a possible fracture in one limb. All were examined by Municipal Medical Services and are in good health condition.
The incident occurred on the night of Saturday, October 19, when firefighters from Tlajomulco received the report through C4 Tlajomulco. The family had gone out for a day in the field by motorcycle, but after an accident decided to continue on foot, getting lost in the El Pocito area in San Miguel Cuyutlán.
With the use of a drone with a thermal camera, the officials of Civil Protection and Firefighters from Tlajomulco were able to locate the family on Cerro Viejo and rescue them.
