Three men convicted for bank robbery in Tlaxcala

In Tlaxcala, three men were sentenced to seven years in prison and a million-dollar payment for damages after robbing a branch of the Banco del Bienestar, according to the Attorney General's Office (FGR), which accused them of aggravated robbery and organized crime.

The FGR delegation in Tlaxcala managed to obtain a conviction against Jorge “O,” Enrique “G,” and José “H,” who were imposed a sentence of seven years, six months, and 20 days in prison, as well as a fine and the obligation to repair the damage for around one million pesos.

In September of last year, while the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) was patrolling El Carmen Tequexquitla, it received an alert about an emergency at the Banco del Bienestar branch. After reviewing the surveillance cameras, they observed three individuals engaging in suspicious maneuvers inside the bank.

The police identified the suspects, who attempted to flee but were arrested and brought to the Federal Public Ministry. This initiated an investigation that resulted in the conviction against the three men.

Branches of the Banco del Bienestar have been victims of several robberies since their creation. In one case in the Historic Center of Morelia, around 10 million pesos were stolen, affecting the payment of social programs. In another incident in the Azcapotzalco mayoralty of Mexico City, criminals took more than two million pesos without the bank’s alarm sounding in time.
