
Under the vision of Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez, the State of Mexico is consolidating itself as an important attraction for foreign direct investment (FDI), having reached second place nationally in this area, as announced by Laura González Hernández, Secretary of Economic Development of the State of Mexico.
In a press conference, the head of Sedeco reported that in 2024, the State of Mexico received FDI of 2 billion 642 million dollars, which represents an increase of 36.8% compared to the previous year, where 1 billion 931 million dollars were captured. With this result, the Mexican entity moved from sixth place in 2023 to second place in 2024 nationally.
"By federal entity, we, the State of Mexico, rose four positions compared to 2023. Today we rank second nationally in foreign direct investment capture with 2 billion 642 million dollars corresponding to 2024," noted Laura González Hernández.
The report from the Ministry of Economy of the Government of Mexico revealed that the total FDI received in the country in 2024 was 36 billion 872 million dollars, a significant increase compared to previous years. In the national ranking, the State of Mexico ranks second, followed by Mexico City in first place, Baja California in third, Nuevo León in fourth, and Chihuahua in fifth.
These data confirm that the State of Mexico is recovering its leadership in various economic indicators and is also in first place nationally in formal job creation. From September 2023 to January 2025, 100 thousand 602 new jobs have been created in the region.
Laura González Hernández emphasized that this investment is a reflection of the confidence that the business sector has in the Mexican entity and highlighted the importance of promoting new projects that attract more investment and consolidate the presence of the already existing one.
