
In Cuautitlán Izcalli, the march began at 09:30 hours from the Mexican University. Other municipalities such as Chalco, Chimalhuacán, Naucalpan, and Toluca joined the demonstrations in an effort to raise awareness of local issues and demand responses from the authorities.
In the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl, at least 500 women, girls, and boys gathered at the Hungry Coyote Monument to demand justice for the victims of femicide. Upon arriving at the Neza-Palacio Justice Center, the protesters encountered a strong security deployment that prevented them from approaching the authorities of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico.
In Ecatepec, a municipality historically plagued by high rates of femicide, the march began at 12:00 hours at the Iron Bridge. Throughout the State of Mexico, several municipalities joined the protests in line with those held across the country.
In Toluca, another key point in the marches of the State of Mexico, feminist contingents gathered at the Martyrs' Square for a public statement addressing issues such as justice, education, and gender equality.
After the march on March 8, local authorities implemented a special clean-up operation in the city. In Nezahualcóyotl, there was a confrontation when elements of the Regional Attorney's Office sprayed extinguishing powder at the protesters.
On this International Women's Day, women around the world united to commemorate their struggle for equality and an end to gender violence. Clean-up work was also carried out at the monuments and emblematic spaces of Toluca that had been vandalized during the protests.
