Promoting Breast Cancer Awareness in Toluca

In Toluca, a health initiative was launched to educate women on breast self-examination and offer mammography services, raising awareness for Breast Cancer Day.

Karla de Luis González, head of the Cancer Program at the Toluca Health Center, from the Institute of Health of the State of Mexico (ISEM), shared techniques for women to conduct a thorough self-examination of their breasts. Mammography and Cytology studies were carried out in two ISEM units, serving 71 women from the Secretariat of the Environment and Sustainable Development.

In order to raise awareness and promote breast cancer prevention, the Government of the State of Mexico, through the Secretariat of the Environment and Sustainable Development (SMAyDS), organized activities for its staff, aligning with the actions of the state Health Secretary. On the occasion of World Breast Cancer Day, Secretary Alhely Rubio Arronis emphasized the importance of women's health and the need to practice self-examination as a preventive measure.

Rubio Arronis emphasized that breast cancer is the second leading cause of death nationwide and that many women postpone medical examinations due to their multiple responsibilities at home and work. Therefore, she stressed the importance of encouraging self-examination to detect any alterations in the breasts and seek specialized medical attention for any changes.

In line with this objective, the presentation "Breast Cancer Detection" was conducted by Dr. Karla de Luis González as part of the efforts aimed at sensitizing and educating women about the importance of early detection of this disease.
