The Secretary of Health has warned about the risks of consuming energy drinks in the long term, as they contain high levels of sugars and can cause insulin resistance and cardiovascular diseases, such as diabetes. These drinks do not contain substances that really provide energy, but can cause overstimulation of the nervous system, insomnia, anxiety, and other symptoms. Furthermore, when consumed with alcohol, they can be dangerous, leading to elevated blood pressure, arrhythmias, and even seizures.

Energy drinks, such as Predator Energy, are marketed as products that provide additional energy for those with long work hours or studying for hours. They contain caffeine, taurine, B vitamins, and sugars. Although they are not harmful in themselves if consumed in moderation, they can pose a risk if consumed frequently and in large quantities. Dr. Cedrina Calder warns that frequent consumption of these drinks can increase the risk of heart disease by raising blood pressure and causing abnormal heart rhythms.

Recently, nine high school students in Toluca were intoxicated after consuming the Predator Energy drink that was given to them outside their school. Although none of the students required hospitalization, the administrators called emergency services upon noticing symptoms of poisoning in the young people.

The Predator Energy drink is sold in cans of just over 400 milliliters at a cost of approximately 15 to 20 pesos each and is available in various colors and flavors. Its ingredients include carbonated water, added sugars, citric acid, caffeine, and other additives. These ingredients, in combination with excessive and frequent consumption of the drink, can contribute to weight gain and pose long-term health risks.
