
The Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, led the launch of 200 new patrol cars equipped with cameras and microphones connected to the Control, Command, Communication, Computing and Quality Center (C5) to strengthen operational capacity and reduce response times to citizen emergencies.
"These patrols are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, such as internal and external cameras, emergency buttons, and other tools that will be very useful in their work and that will generate greater trust among citizens," highlighted Governor Delfina Gómez.
The new units, pick-up type with double cabin, were distributed, with a hundred of them in municipalities of the Valley of Mexico and the remaining hundred destined for the Valley of Toluca. In addition, it was reported about the 9% salary increase for more than 20,000 police officers and the provision of better equipment for their performance.
These measures have had a positive impact on the reduction of crimes in the State of Mexico, with a notable decrease in intentional homicides by 12% and femicides by 17%, according to data from the Attorney General's Office until the end of 2024.
Cristóbal Castañeda Camarillo, State Secretary of Security, detailed that the patrols will be distributed to the eight operational coordinations in the state territory, in an effort to improve the security and effectiveness of the police in the State of Mexico.
The Municipal President of Toluca, Ricardo Moreno Bastida, highlighted local efforts in reducing crimes in the municipality, especially vehicle theft, and in implementing measures such as improvements in public lighting to ensure safer environments.
The event was attended by Horacio Duarte Olivares, Secretary General of Government, and José Martín Luna de la Luz, Commander of the 22nd, among other officials and local authorities.
